The North

The North of the country was the area that was most affected by the former conflict and remains, by far, the least developed for tourism. However, with the advent of peace the region is slowly becoming accessible. Travel here is an adventure.

The northern peninsular has very modest infrastructure outside of Jaffna town. If you want to visit this fascinating, vibrant and beautiful area, please contact us directly. We will be able to discuss options with you. To tour the area, which is perfectly feasible and has been done by the ESL team, we would need to hire you a car with a driver experienced in the area. You would need to be prepared for basic hotel options too, though the food is excellent.
